Balloons in this Generation!

Balloons!

Balloons are starting to take place in major technological advancements of this generation. I have two news to talk about in this post.

About the first one, we have talked about this already in the blog. Internet has become an important aspect of everyone’s life. And most tech companies out there are working on better connectivity for everyone. Loon LLC in co-operation with Google LLC are working on project Loon. This concept is almost similar to the one from SpaceX.

Loon plans to use huge balloons. This way, they are working on increasing LTE coverage. Basically, the balloons are going to act like routers, that acts like a bridge between devices in low network coverage to the towers far away.

Loon promises several advantages from this project. These balloons will be controlled 24/7. The balloons are easily upgradable, and the coverage can be expanded seamlessly. They use the existing LTE technology, which means that everyone can continue to use their existing devices and connect with more speed.

The array system is really interesting. The balloons are going to follow the wind for the most part. They will stay in a mesh-like pattern in the sky. If one of the balloons go out of range, the others form a pattern around it and gains access from the tower, hence letting the operators aid the balloon to its place. But for the most part the balloons make itself comfortable to a place with some algorithms by the technicians. Also, the formation of cell towers on the ground will be connected through Fiber net for low latency, and decrease bandwidth consumption.

Loon states the most important feature, that is disaster preparedness. The units fly way far from ground weather, at around 60000 feet. Everyone of them are solar powered, hence power friendly. When balloons are already in place, they can provide emergency service to everyone during a disaster. Also, loon provided emergency services after a hurricane in Puerto Rico. This project is still under development, and deploying test launches on many places like Kenya.

An other news I wanted to talk was about the future ‘Space Trips’. Every child has dreamed of going to the space on a tour, visiting planets, stars, aliens, and more. Many tech companies came up with great ideas. But what everyone is looking up to now, is that humans will first tour the interstellar space by Balloons. A Company ‘Space Perspective’, states that they will be taking people into the stratosphere with really huge, strong balloons. So, we are not exactly talking about going to ‘The Space’, but above the ground to take a cool look at Our Earth.

Space Perspective states that people will be carried inside a white capsule that they call ‘Neptune’ with wide glasses for sightseeing. They also state that there can be up to eight people inside the capsule. The full tour is about 6 hours, with around 2 hours in the stratosphere itself.

Events inside the capsule can be done, they say. Like parties, Birthdays, and more. There will be a bathroom, and Wi-Fi connection too.

The full tour will have for events, which will be planned later. The capsule itself is aimed to drop in a body of water, an adrenaline rush at the end.

When that comes around, we will be out from the lockdown, and will have time to experience a look of our mother earth. They claim the price would be half of what Virgin Galactic costed, which is still expensive, but worth it. So that’s it for this post, leave your thoughts on how balloons can make technological miracles, and share with others too! Thank you and Bye!
