Researchers from the University of Tsukaba in Japan designed a pattern that cannot be duplicated in any way.

How is this helpful? Patterns play an important role in many fields of mathematics. Patterns helped many physicists and mathematicians to solve many problems which would’ve otherwise been unsolvable. Many discoveries were possible because of patterns. Some of them are demonstrated using mathematical graphs, and some with natural phenomenon.

Scientists recently designed a pattern, that cannot be duplicated or forged by any means. This means that this pattern could be very helpful to eliminate counterfeits and forgery, which affected the economy a lot. 

Before we get into the working, let’s see what is a Whispering Gallery. Whispering Galleries are huge places, that are shaped in order to reflect sound waves in an abnormal way. Some galleries are designed so that the sound waves travel to every part of the place, despite there being any obstructions. They are mostly spherical shaped, or similarly shaped.

How is this used in the new pattern? Let’s consider an image. Tiny Whispering Galleries are placed in each pixel of the image. Light waves are directed towards the image, which in turn leaves signatures on light-sensitive substances that are placed below it. The pattern that was formed was not duplicable.

They claim that this scientific advancement would lead to the best authentication systems, that replaces every one of the old security systems. Transactions, identifications, authentications, and also unlocking your phone, will be more secure.
