Next Generation Shopping!

Ever wondered if there were a better way to buy grocery fast and easy? Of course, there are tons of services out there that do delivery services. But what if, you are a person that picks products very carefully? What if the deliverer isn’t good at picking fresh vegetables like you? That’s where you would think about going to the store yourself in the morning, while going out for a walk.

But wait, won’t there be other people with the same plan as yours, in the stores? What if there were a lot of people in queue, checking out?

Amazon stepped up, stating that there won’t be any need for check out lines. They call their new innovation, the ‘Just Walk Out Shopping’. Yes! As the name suggests, you walk in to the store, take what you want, have a chat with your neighbours, and walk out, that’s it! Wait, is that possible? Is it something like pay-before-you-enter-the-shop deal? Absolutely no.

Their new technology’s main role is going to be your phone. As you can see from the picture, there will be these gates, which would allow you to enter as you show your phone’s face with the amazon go app’s feature. So this is how it works.

Once the computer detects you, it will allow you into the shop. Now, you can pick whatever you want, and leave. Once you are satisfied with your picks, you should once again show the phone’s face to complete shopping. The pillars on either side packs sensors that detect the stickers in the products, which in turn adds as bill amount to your account in the app. This way, you can pay the amount later in the app.

Currently amazon go has 21 stores on 4 locations – New York, San Francisco, Seattle, and Chicago. They are still increasing the coverage, soon giving access to the entire globe.

But, most of amazon’s products are the same as what many other retailers sell in the 4 locations. This might be a threat to their overall success. But still, this is a really good technological innovation. That’s it for today, leave your thoughts as comments below, and see you all in the next post!
